Preparation for Your Kambo Session

The following instructions are for our 4-hour Kambo ceremonies. For preparation information on our One Dot Kambo sessions, please visit the One Dot Kambo preparation page here

Fasting & Diet

Unlike the strict diets often required before psychedelic plant medicine ceremonies, you can eat normally in the days and weeks before your Kambo session. Most people naturally prefer lighter meals the day before.

You must fast for at least 12 hours before your Kambo session. Please do not eat or drink anything on the day of your session unless instructed.

Avoid alcohol and recreational drugs for at least 24 hours before and after your session.

IMPORTANT: You cannot participate in a Kambo session if you have engaged in water fasting or a strict food fasting regime within 7 days prior. Please inform us of any recent detox programmes or dietary restrictions from the past 6–8 weeks.

If you need further guidance, please contact us, we’re happy to support you.

Your practitioner will give you personalised instructions, but the following is a general guide based on session timing:

Morning Sessions

You may have one cup of water or fruit tea with a teaspoon of honey up to 2 hours before your session. No additional food or liquid should be consumed. Please fast from food for at least 12 hours.

Afternoon Sessions

You may have up to six cups of water or fruit tea with a teaspoon of honey, 2 hours before your session if needed. No other liquid or food should be consumed. A minimum 12-hour fast from food is required.

Evening Sessions

Eat a light breakfast of fruit only depending on your session time. We recommend a full 12-hour food fast. Drink no more than 10 cups of water or tea with honey during the day, and nothing for at least 4 hours before your session.

What to Wear and Bring to Your Session

Wear comfortable clothing — gym wear is ideal. Your practitioner will recommend placement of your Kambo points, which may be on your arms, legs, chest, or back depending on your needs.

Please bring a full change of clothes in case of any spills.

Suggested items:

  • Shorts

  • Vest or tank top

  • Jogging bottoms or leggings

  • Warm hoodie or jumper

  • Warm socks

  • Sports bra or open-back top (for women)

Your comfort is a priority. Sessions are held in the strictest confidence so you can relax and focus entirely on your journey.

Note: Kambo points are never placed on the head, face, breasts, nipples, or genitals. All placement is agreed between you and your practitioner before the session begins.

Medicines & Supplements

Please follow the guidance your practitioner gives you regarding medication and supplements. If you’re unsure, message us on WhatsApp before your session.

It is important that your medications are not affected during the session. We will work with you to time doses appropriately.

Mental & Emotional Preparation

Kambo works deeply through the body, and your emotional presence helps shape the experience.

Take some time in the days before your session to tune in. You might journal, meditate, walk in nature, or simply reflect. Ask yourself:

What am I ready to let go of?

What do I want to call in?

You do not need to share your intentions unless you choose to. Unlike traditional talk therapy, Kambo does not require you to revisit or explain your past. This makes it particularly suited to those who want to work with what they are carrying without needing to relive it.

For your safety, we need to know about any recreational or pharmaceutical drug use. There is absolutely no judgement — but it’s important we are aware of any behaviours, such as regular alcohol use, cannabis, or emotional eating patterns. This helps us support you safely and effectively.

Contraindication Reminder

Kambo is a traditional ceremonial practice that requires a trained and experienced practitioner. It is not suitable for everyone.

Please ensure you have disclosed the following before your session:

  • Any current or past medications

  • Heart conditions, epilepsy, or seizures

  • Mental health diagnoses (including bipolar disorder or schizophrenia)

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding

  • Any recent surgeries, hospitalisations, or major health events

A full list of contraindications is available on our precautions page or via email. If you’re ever unsure, ask us. Your safety and wellbeing are our priority.
